Tendonitis is an inflammation of a specific group of tendons as a result of injury. This condition may be caused by repetitive stress, direct trauma, congenital abnormalities or aging. In most cases, patients respond very well to established treatment regimens. Unfortunately, some patients do not and must therefore alter their life styles to accommodate the discomfort and the pain of tendonitis. For these patients, a new application of an existing technology offers hope for this chronic and frequently debilitating condition. For those patients who suffer from tendonitis, Extracorporeal (a medical procedure which is carried outside the body) Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) may be appropriate for them. ESWT is also highly effective in treating other conditions such as Bursitis, Epicondylitis (tennis elbow), Plantar Fasciitis, Calcific Tendonitis, Rotator Cuff Syndrome, Golf Elbow and other chronic musculoskeletal diagnoses.
Where will I be treated?
In most cases your treatment will take place at Precision Occupational Medical Group, Inc. corporate office located at 1809 East Dyer Road, Suite #313 Santa Ana, CA 92705. However alternative locations are available depending on your situation. This is not only more cost effective than other procedures but it is quicker and easier than alternative methods of treatment.
When is ESWT appropriate for use?
Your doctor will be the best judge as to the type of treatment you require. In general terms, the application of ESWT is most appropriate after you have failed to respond to two or more of the following conventional treatments:
- Rest
- Orthotics
- Physical therapy
- Medications
- Injections
